Exhibition Centre
ARMANI | SILOS

Armani/Silos is the permanent exhibition space inaugurated in 2015 on the occasion of Giorgio Armani's 40th anniversary celebration. Built in 1950, the building was originally a barn and now - following the renovation project, envisioned and followed directly by the designer - is spread over four levels with a surface area of approximately 4,500 square metres. Giorgio Armani's predilection for simplicity and rigour have given rise to an architecture where essentiality gets rid of the superfluous, responding rationally to functional needs, always respecting the nature of the place. In fact, the intervention has preserved the building's curious original shape, reminiscent of a beehive. On the ground floor, the space hosts temporary exhibitions dedicated to fashion, photography, architecture and design. On the upper floors, the permanent collection covers more than 40 years of the designer's creations and includes more than 400 garments and 200 accessories from the Giorgio Armani collections from 1980 to the present day. The selection is subdivided according to certain themes that have inspired and continue to inspire the designer's work: Androgynous, Ethnic and Stars. In addition to the exhibition, the space also offers a bookshop, a cafeteria and a digital archive dedicated to researchers and enthusiasts who wish to delve deeper into Giorgio Armani's work and stylistic universe. Located on the top floor, the archive can be consulted free of charge and uses a cataloguing system developed specifically for Armani/Silos. Workstations, touch screen tables and a projection area are the tools made available to the public for consultation and study.
