VILLA VISCONTI BORROMEO LITTA
includedVilla Litta is located in Lainate, and its proximity to Milan has made it, since the 16th century, a favourite holiday destination for Milanese noble families, who invested considerable economic resources here. The creator of the entire complex was Count Pirro I Visconti Borromeo, figure of a refined patron of the arts, who used the collaboration of the best artists active in the Lombardy area and at the Fabbrica del Duomo in Milan to transform his property into an authentic place of delights.
The Nymphaeum represents the most fascinating heart of the villa: an environment of coolness, charm and wonder that, thanks to the richness of the decorations and the complexity of the water displays, is considered one of the most significant examples in northern Italy. The building is divided into rooms entirely covered in black and white pebble mosaics, sometimes painted, a unique decorative solution. In some rooms, surprising water plays and tricks still animate the spaces, offering visitors an evocative and unrepeatable experience.
