PINACOTECA PASINETTI
includedIn 2006, thanks to the generous donation of Laura Pasinetti, the Municipality of Montichiari acquired a treasure trove of over 400 works - including paintings, pastels and drawings - by Antonio Pasinetti (1863-1940). This bequest gave rise to the Pinacoteca Civica, housed in an elegant neoclassical building together with the “Giovanni Treccani” Library.
The exhibition route runs along two lines: a thematic selection dedicated to portraiture, landscape and social painting, and an in-depth technical examination of the relationship between sketch and finished work. Although famous as a portraitist of the Milanese bourgeoisie, Pasinetti vigorously explored landscape and social denunciation, documenting with empathy the condition of women in the Lombardy countryside. His technique, characterised by a lively colourism and generous brushstrokes alternating with the use of the spatula, he also made use of photography as a study tool, as evidenced by the rare shots preserved in the Pinacoteca archive.
The institution is part of Montichiari Museums, the urban museum system recognised by the Lombardy Region that has been coordinating and enhancing the territory's excellences since 2009: the Bonoris Castle, the Lechi Museum, the Pasinetti Art Gallery, the Bergomi Museum, the Risorgimento Museum and the Palace of Archaeology.
