Pinacoteca Ambrosiana

The Pinacoteca Ambrosiana was established in April 1618, when Cardinal Federico Borromeo donated his collection of paintings, statues and drawings to the Biblioteca Ambrosiana, which he had founded in 1607.
Inside the Pinacoteca's exhibition itinerary, divided into 24 rooms, you can admire some of the most extraordinary masterpieces of all time, such as Leonardo's Musico, Caravaggio's Canestra di frutta (Basket of Fruit), Raphael's Preparatory Cartoon for the School of Athens, Titian's Adoration of the Magi, Botticelli's Madonna del Padiglione and Jan Brueghel's splendid Vasi di fiori (Flower Vases).
In addition to works from the Renaissance period, the museum's collections include important works by 17th-century Lombard artists (Morazzone, Giulio Cesare Procaccini, Daniele Crespi and Carlo Francesco Nuvolone), 18th-century artists (Giandomenico Tiepolo, Fra Galgario, Francesco Londonio), and a notable nucleus of 19th-century and early 20th-century artists (Andrea Appiani, Francesco Hayez, Mosè Bianchi, Emilio Longoni...). Opening Hours: Until 30 June
