The Palazzo delle Paure stands in the heart of Lecco's historical centre, overlooking the picturesque Lungolario promenade. Built in 1905 in neo-medieval eclectic style to house the headquarters of the Intendenza di Finanza, it owes its name to its original function. The complex also includes the adjacent porticoed building, designed in 1902 by architect Adriano Gazzari.
Today, the Palace is a lively cultural centre: on the first floor it houses the temporary exhibitions, while the second is the Contemporary Art Gallery and the Graphics and Photography Section, with works by artists from Lecco and great Italian masters such as Morlotti, Guttuso, Castellani, Baj, Rotella, Pomodoro and many others.
The third floor houses the’Osservatorio Alpinistico Lecchese, which celebrates the area's extraordinary mountaineering tradition, recounting its origins and deep connection with the local environment and culture. A multimedia and interactive exhibition invites the visitor to a participatory experience, going beyond mere contemplation to transform knowledge into active exploration.
