Botanical Garden
Orto Botanico di Torino

The Botanical Garden of Turin consists of a part laid out as a garden, between the Department of Life Sciences and Systems Biology building and the Valentino Castle, and a part behind it, the Boschetto.
The Garden occupies approximately 9000 square metres (0.9 hectares); it is divided into thematic flowerbeds (by botanical families) and houses an Alpineto at the south-west end (created in 1962-63 by prof. Bruno Peyronel), four greenhouses (the South African Greenhouse, inaugurated in 2007 and located on the west side of the garden, and the Succulent Plant Greenhouse, the Tropical Greenhouse and the new Multiplication Greenhouse, on the east side of the garden), three ponds, and a series of stone ponds along the north side of the garden that house the medicinal plant collection.
The Boschetto covers an area of approximately 18,000 square metres (1.8 hectares) and is home to tree collections, including some of the oldest trees still standing in Turin.
