OFFICINA DELLA SCRITTURA
includedA veritable "Citadel of Knowledge", Officina della Scrittura is the place where everything connected to the culture of writing and, more generally, to the sign of Man is recounted and valorised: from the origins of the sign to the various forms of contemporary communication.
The museum project was conceived and inaugurated in 2016 with the aim of defending, promoting and enhancing the culture of writing, its tools and techniques and recovering the historical memory not only of a company, but of a territory and a country.
The Writing Workshop is a unique museum that through an interactive, interdisciplinary and immersive itinerary, a perfect mix of tradition and technology, tells the story of man's desire to leave a mark, a trace of himself. The narrative unfolds along a route of over 2,500 square metres and recounts the birth and evolution of an extraordinary discovery, that of written communication: from the first cave paintings and engravings, to typewriters, from the 13 iconic fountain pens of the 20th century (such as the Hastil and Thesi Aurora designed by Marco Zanuso in the 1970s and exhibited at the MoMA in New York), to the most contemporary forms of digital communication.
Officina della Scrittura is therefore a world in balance between museum and factory, between knowledge and know-how. In addition to the museum, Officina della Scrittura offers the possibility of visiting the actual Manifattura Aurora: a tour inside the production area of the historic Turin company, where one can observe the various phases of production of Aurora fountain pens at close quarters.
