Historical Museum
MUSLI | MUSEO DELLA SCUOLA E POP-APP MUSEUM
includedThe School Museum is a fascinating journey into school life between the 19th and 20th centuries. Through classrooms reconstructed with period materials, games, books and original teaching tools, visitors become “pupils of the past” and take part in an immersive and interactive experience.
The exhibition, spread over four floors of the historic wing of Barolo Palace, showcases a rich heritage of artefacts linked to Italian and European educational and publishing traditions, with a special focus on the history of education in Turin, the Marchesi Barolo family and their role in the establishment of nurseries and primary schools in the 19th century, up to the famous school of Heart.
The Pop-App Museum invites you to discover the surprising world of animated books: extraordinary volumes capable of astonishing with their movement and three-dimensional effects, true precursors of contemporary digital applications.
Thanks to Pop-App International Centre for Interactive Books, The museum makes the valuable collection of the Tancredi di Barolo Foundation accessible to the public and researchers, with over a thousand Italian and foreign pieces from the 16th to the 20th century: a long history that continues to dialogue with the present.
Multimedia stations allow visitors to enjoy a sensory experience combining paper and digital technology, interacting with three-dimensional books and setting illustrations and mechanisms in motion.
The exhibition is complemented by an exhibition housed in the historic cellars of Palazzo Barolo, dedicated to different animation techniques, the relationship with pre-cinema and the evolution of the animated book: from 16th-century scientific volumes to masterpieces by Bruno Munari.
