MUSEO VIRGILIO
includedThe Virgil Museum traces Virgil's great works – Bucolic, Georgics and Aeneid – through pieces belonging to the Civic Collections and a complex system of sensory installations, multimedia content and touchscreen stations. One section is also dedicated to Virgil's fortune over the centuries, from the Middle Ages to the present day. The storytelling and design of the exhibition are by Holden School.
The Museum is located on the fifth and sixth floors of the Podestà's Palace, a building dating back to 1227 and seat of the city administration for seven centuries, an integral part of the municipal palace complex. The itinerary, labyrinthine and layered in time, crosses the Arengario and reaches the Masseria. The redevelopment of the complex, which began after the 2012 earthquake, has brought to light precious traces of medieval frescoes, previously unknown and still under study.
