Promoted by Professor Maria Adriana Prolo, founder of the Cinema Museum in Turin, the museum was established in 1973 and is now located in the west wing of Villa Caccia. The collection brings together evidence of the history of Romagnano and the surrounding areas, with particular emphasis on artefacts related to the local agricultural civilisation and wine-making tradition.
The eastern wing of the neoclassical Villa Caccia houses the Museo Storico Etnografico della Bassa Valsesia. Inside this fascinating Antonellian structure, restored respecting the original layout and once the headquarters of the “Premiata Fattoria Vinicola dei Conti Caccia” winery, the visitor is taken on a journey through the history, traditions and material culture of Romagnano Sesia and its territory.
The museum is now the centrepiece of a dynamic project aimed at enhancing and promoting local environmental and cultural resources.
