MRSN – MUSEO REGIONALE DI SCIENZE NATURALI

The MRSN (Regional Museum of Natural Sciences), established in 1978, is located in the historic building that originally housed the San Giovanni Battista Hospital, built at the end of the 17th century. The Museum is dedicated to the conservation and valorisation of naturalistic findings from the region and from all over the world, promoting the formation of study collections, managing the historical collections of the University of Turin, conducting research activities and organising didactic-dissemination initiatives.
The museum's renewed exhibition itinerary is divided into three main areas:
- Historical Museum of Zoology: This section houses naturalised specimens and skeletons, offering visitors a fascinating insight into the history of zoology.
- Ark of Explorations: This area recounts the naturalistic journeys over time that have contributed to the enrichment of the museum's collections. In the centre of this section stands the exceptional skeleton of a baleen whale stranded in Bordighera in the mid-19th century.
- Hall of Wonders: In this room, visitors can admire a selection of the richness and variety of the exhibits stored in the MRSN's repositories.
Through these three areas, the MRSN aims to offer a comprehensive and exciting experience, inviting the public to explore and understand the extraordinary diversity of the natural world.
