Historical Museum
Museo Nazionale del Risorgimento Italiano

Founded in 1878, the National Museum of the Italian Risorgimento is one of the most important history museums in Europe. It is housed in Palazzo Carignano, a Baroque jewel in the heart of Turin, a Unesco site since 1997. Profoundly renovated on the occasion of the celebrations for the 150th anniversary of the Unification of Italy, the Museum has become one of the city's main tourist and cultural attractions. It preserves an extraordinary heritage, in addition to a highly specialised library and archive. The exhibition includes two original parliamentary chambers: the Chamber of the Subalpine Parliament, the only one in Europe among those created by the constitutions of 1848 to have survived intact, a national monument since 1898, and the majestic chamber intended for the Chamber of the Parliament of the Kingdom of Italy, with vaults frescoed by Francesco Gonin, built between 1864 and 1871. In addition, numerous in-depth films, interactivity, free Wi-Fi and a multimedia App allow for a more participatory and accessible visit.
The museum is the venue for temporary exhibitions, events, conferences; it offers educational and family activities; it organises numerous guided tours to explore the themes and events that marked the history of the Risorgimento.
