MUSEO NAZIONALE DEL CINEMA

Turin (TO)

An exciting journey into the magic of cinema. Inside the majestic Mole Antonelliana, an iconic symbol of the city of Turin, is one of the most spectacular film exhibitions. In an evocative interweaving of sets, projections and plays of light, the routes of the Cinema Museum offer an immersive experience, capable of bringing the magic of the seventh art to life, just as it happens in front of the big screen.

Visitors can discover the secrets behind the camera and learn about the stages leading up to the screening of a film. An interactive and fascinating itinerary leads from the first experiments with shadow theatre and enchanting magic lanterns to the most innovative special effects and virtual reality.

L'Archaeology of Cinema, an entire section of the museum, allows visitors to experience optical devices and spectacles that marked the milestones in the birth of cinema. The beating heart of the Museum is the Temple Hall, a scenographic space traversed by the Panoramic Lift and surrounded by areas dedicated to the great film genres. The Panoramic Lift, with its transparent glass walls, offers a unique ride with no intermediate floors, from its starting point at 10 metres up to the 85 metres of the 'temple', from where a breathtaking aerial view of the city can be admired.

Here you will also find the CineVR, Italy's first virtual reality room inside a museum, with a daily programme of films specially made for this technology.

The evocative Helical rampwhich winds its way like a film towards the dome, hosts temporary exhibitions and offers a breathtaking view of theTemple Hall.

Another unmissable stop is The Cinema Machinean area dedicated to the different phases and components of the film industry. From here you access the Poster Gallerywhere you can admire a vast collection of posters that tell the story of cinema through the iconic images of its masterpieces.

Completing the experience is a new exhibition space and a video installation on the ground floor that pay tribute to Alessandro Antonelli, the architect of the Mole, and Maria Adriana Prolo, the visionary founder of the museum.
