MUSEO MAT – MUSEO ARTE TEMPO
includedThe exhibition route runs through the Gorla Collection, entrusted to Clusone by the Province of Bergamo: extremely rare tower clock mechanisms that testify to the challenge of human ingenuity against the relentless passage of time. The MAT organises its treasury in three main sections: painting and sculpture, monumental watchmaking and a valuable selection of furnishings of the Sant'Andrea family. Adding to the museum heritage is the’Photographic Archive Cesare Cristilli, which has documented over a century of city life since 1905.
This fascinating itinerary, from the 15th century to the present day, reveals the deep soul of Clusone and continues ideally into the heart of the town. Here, the dialogue with time becomes monumental: from the famous Planetary Clock by Pietro Fanzago (1583) on the Civic Tower - among the oldest and most important in the world - to the warning of the Dance Macabre, the fresco that dominates the Oratorio dei Disciplini, a disturbing and magnetic mirror of human frailty.
