MUSEO MARIO GIANSONE

Sant'Ambrogio di Torino (TO)
AM Tessera Piemonteincluded
The Museo Giansone was created as a meeting place for art, memory and aesthetic experimentation, preserving and enhancing the work of Mario Giansone, one of the most original protagonists of 20th century Italian art.
Sculture moderne e dalle forme astratte esposte su piedistalli entro una struttura metallica in una sala con pareti blu.

Located in the atmospheric spaces of the’former Maglificio Fratelli Bosio, the Giansone Museum is not just an exhibition space, but an act of cultural restitution. Covering an area of 750 square metres, the museum finally offers a permanent home and an organic vision to an artist who traversed the 20th century with a free, original and surprisingly topical voice.

The route runs through seven halls that hold an encyclopaedic heritage:

  • Sculpture: About 170 works in bronze and marble.
  • Painting and Graphics: 30 paintings, 23 woodcuts and a corpus of drawings, engravings and lithographs.
  • Experimentation: Stencils and a rare tapestry testify to the author's eclecticism.

The Exhibition Route

The exhibition combines critical rigour with an immersive narrative, guiding the visitor through thematic environments with a strong sensory impact:

  1. Entrance: Reception in the world of Janson.
  2. Sala Buia: Where light shapes forms and thought.
  3. Aula Magna: The space for discussion and teaching.
  4. Bronzes Hall: The vigour of molten matter.
  5. Marble Hall: The purity of the sculpted sign.
  6. Opera Omnia: A total synthesis of artistic vision.

An Open and Contemporary Vision

The Giansone Museum was founded as open and accessible place, designed to be a dynamic centre for research and dialogue. It is an invitation to rediscover the value of visual experimentation and to reflect on the infinite variations of “making art”.

“We celebrate the genius of Mario Giansone: a journey through archival materials, site-specific installations and a poetics that continues to dialogue with the history of Italian art.”

Through this itinerary in the heart of Turin's creativity, the visitor is not a mere spectator, but an active participant in an experience that celebrates a timeless artistic vision.
