MUSEO LABORATORIO DELLA PREISTORIA DI VAIE

The Museum of Archaeology and Archaeotechnology exhibits a collection of experimental reconstructions with numerous paths of knowledge of ancient technologies, also with reference to the Vaie site and the Susa Valley. The illustrative panels present materials, processes and technological innovations from different cultures. An encounter with daily life in prehistoric times: fire control and lighting; territory and dwellings; hunting and breeding; crops and food; spinning and weaving; working with stone, clay and the discovery of metals. The Archaeological Trail is located near the Museum; there you can visit the Copper Age site 'Riparo Rumiano', the remains of the probable settlement of the 'Baità' and other historical and environmental resources.

In these places, inhabited in the 3rd millennium BC, an experimental reconstruction of a Neolithic hut is visible. The findings in Vaie date back to the early 20th century and are on display in the Museum of Antiquities. It is also called Museo Laboratorio because it offers visitors various activities, all based on the operational procedures of the time and conceived at various levels: from basic workshops for children, adults and disabled persons, to specialised ones. In addition: technological demonstrations (Centre for Experimental Archaeology Turin) and initiatives to discover the Historical Environmental Heritage, with the Cottian Alps Parks. A tactile collection significantly complements both the visit and the activities.
