Archaeological Museum
Museo Egizio

A Baroque palace in the heart of Turin houses the Egyptian Museum, the oldest in the world dedicated to Egyptian civilisation. Founded in 1824, it holds an extraordinary collection of over 40,000 artefacts, 3,300 of which are displayed in the museum rooms. To these are added the more than 11,000 objects kept in the visitable storerooms, known as the Galleries of Material Culture.
The richness of the collection, consisting of statues, papyri, sarcophagi and objects from everyday life, offers visitors a journey through more than 4,000 years of History, Art and Archaeology.
In 2015, the Egyptian Museum doubled its space and renovated the museum itinerary, which now extends over four floors and comprises 15 rooms. This makes it the most important museum of Egyptian antiquities in the world after the one in Cairo, an essential reference point for anyone wishing to discover one of the most fascinating civilisations in history.
In 2024, the Egyptian Museum renovated the famous Gallery of the Kings, transforming it into an immersive and interactive experience thanks to a collaboration with OMA. The project reinterprets the historical context of the monumental statues, blending contemporary design and natural light to evoke the original atmosphere of the temples of Karnak.
