MUSEO DONIZETTIANO
includedThe route is punctuated by the Maestro's words and notes, supplemented by multimedia workstations that enrich the visitor experience. The exhibition traces the entire human and artistic parabola of Gaetano DonizettiFrom his humble origins in 1797 to the revelation of his precocious talent, through his formative years in Bergamo and Bologna, to his triumph in the most prestigious theatres in Europe, including Naples, Vienna and Paris.
Among the treasures on display are autograph scores, portraits and intimate objects, such as the famous Viennese piano on which he composed or his nécessaire travel. Curious and significant is the lithograph of the Panthéon musical, which ironically portrays a Donizetti in Habsburg uniform as he ‘churns out’ operas at a prodigious pace. The visit ends with an exciting reconstruction of the room where the composer died, furnished with the original furniture of the time.
The Donizettiano Museum is an integral part of the Bergamo Story Museum, a diffuse museum network narrating the evolution of the city from antiquity to the 20th century.
