Museo diffuso Valle di Viù – Museo d’Arte Sacra
VIU' (TO)

The museum is housed in the premises of the parish church of San Martino. The tour includes the precious chapel of the Confraternity of the Holy Name of Jesus, founded in 1714. The museum houses precious furnishings, sacred vestments, liturgical fittings and artistic works from the numerous chapels in the municipality of Viù.
Among the works on display are precious sacristy furnishings, sacred vestments in damask and embroidered fabrics, altar objects such as a chiselled silver chalice, liturgical books, and reliquaries. There are also wood carvings and paintings of sacred subjects, including the interesting 'Ostensione della Sindone tra i duchi Emanuele Filiberto e Carlo Emanuele I. The paintings and many of the wooden objects have recently been restored.
In addition, small exhibitions dedicated to artists who frequented Viù and the valley have been held for several years: Alberto Neuschuler, Giovanni Piumati.
