The Museo Diffuso della Resistenza is an unconventional museum that uses original and innovative exhibition languages to disseminate memory, history and values
of the Resistance and reflect on the present.
It enhances the places of the city's memory, offering the public the opportunity to grasp the close relationship between history and territory.

The Museum's permanent exhibition evokes daily life during the war, the German occupation, the Resistance and the return to democracy, through the images, sounds and voices of witnesses, presented in an original interactive installation.
The route suggests the exploration of a territory, which is revealed through the memory of its places. A symbolic underground network runs through the city and guides the visitor through an installation that makes different languages coexist: written and oral sources, photographs and films, testimonies and evocations. The journey is divided into five stages: Living Everyday, Living Under the Bombs, Living Under the Regime, Living Under Occupation and Living Free. Each stage consists of the juxtaposition of two interviews, in which the main theme is recounted by the witnesses through the recollection of their personal experiences; each pair of interviews is accompanied by a montage of images selected from films and documentaries of the time. Only two objects are present throughout the tour: a rare treadle machine used for the clandestine printing of propaganda material, and one of the chairs used for executions at the Martinetto polygon. An air-raid shelter is also an integral part of the visit; located 12 metres below ground level, it offered shelter to the employees of the daily newspaper La Gazzetta del Popolo, which had its headquarters in the palace, but also to many inhabitants of the neighbourhood. The last part of the tour leads to the theme of regaining rights, enshrined in the fundamental principles of the 1948 Constitution. The constitutional charter is presented through some emblematic articles, narrated on four reflective screens. Before leaving the exhibition, a last space is dedicated to visitors' messages and suggestions.
