MUSEO DIDATTICO DELLA SETA
includedFounded in 1990the Como Silk Museum was conceived to tell the complete silk fabric processing cycle, from silkworm breeding to twisting, weaving, dyeing and printing.
Its rooms hold a rich heritage of machines, tools and technical equipment used between 1850 and 1950, many of which are still fully functional.
The museum also preserves an important historical documentation - with digital archive, library and vintage photographs - which testifies to the economic, social and urban evolution of the city of Como, deeply marked by the textile industry.
Today, the Silk Museum offers a wide range of thematic and experiential visits, workshops for children and adults, temporary exhibitions and special events, inviting the public to discover the Como silk tradition in an engaging and contemporary way.
