The museum was created from the prestigious scientific collection of Sigismondo Ala Ponzone (1761-1842), naturalist and trainer who was able to collect findings of highest level. Over time, the original core was expanded thanks to the generous donations from local naturalists.
The Exhibition Route
The journey through the museum is structured in thematic sections:
- The Historical Section: to discover the scientific legacy of the original collection.
- The Systematic Passage: an immersion in the disciplines of mineralogy, palaeontology and zoology.
- Territory and Biodiversity: a focus on natural and urban ecosystems, to reflect on the environmental conservation.
- Interdisciplinary Learning Space: an area dedicated to historical relationship between man, city and river.
The Little Library (0-13 years)
A space created to stimulate the’interest in reading from an early age. The library offers an accurate selection of the best children's publishing, where quality of texts and illustrations intertwine to accommodate young readers of all age groups.
