Bardonecchia (TO)
included
The Museum of Alpine Religious Art in Melezet houses the main works of art originally kept in parish churches and country chapels in the hamlets of Bardonecchia. The museum exhibits works of wooden sculpture, jewellery, paintings and textiles dating from the 15th to the 20th century and offers an overview of the history and culture of this Alpine area.

The museum, located in the 17th-century Chapel of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Melezet (Bardonecchia), houses works of silverware, wooden statuary, paintings and vestments coming in particular from the parish churches of Melezet, Les Arnauds, Rochemolles, Millaures and Savoulx and from the chapels of San Sisto, San Sebastiano, San Rocco, Sacro Cuore, Notre Dame du Coignet and Carmine. The artistic testimonies range from the 15th to the 20th century. Among the exhibits are the painted panels from the Coignet chapel (1490-1500); the processional cross by the Brianza goldsmith Yppolite Borrel (1520-29); the Madonna and Child by the Master of the Mass of St. Gregory (around 1510); the portable wooden altarpiece depicting St. Sixtus and the Madonna and Child (late 15th century and 1575)
