Art Museum
Museo del tesoro della Cattedrale di Aosta

It houses masterpieces of ancient art, including the famous diptych of Honorius from 406 A.D., Romanesque and Gothic stained-glass windows, precious gold work, funerary monuments of distinguished members of the nobility and clergy, paintings and sumptuous vestments, as well as some examples of wooden sculpture and processional furnishings from the parishes of the diocese. The original core consists of the actual 'treasure' of the cathedral, i.e. the precious group of reliquaries intended to contain the remains of local saints.
In addition to the museum, it is possible to go up to the attic of the cathedral to admire the frescoes of the old Romanesque cathedral, dating back to the first half of the 11th century. The cycle depicting the stories of Saint Eustace and scenes from the Old and New Testaments is one of the largest pictorial complexes dating back to the year 1000 known to us today. It is also possible to visit the Gothic cloister built between 1440 and 1460.
