MUSEO DEL PAESAGGIO
includedFounded in 1909 by Antonio Massara under the name of Historical and Artistic Museum of Verbano and adjacent valleys, In 1914, the institute assumed its current name of Landscape Museum. Born with the intention of studying, enhancing and protecting the natural and artistic beauty of the area, it finds its ideal home in the 17th-century Palazzo Viani Dugnani, owned by the municipality.
Today, the building, completely renovated in its exhibition spaces, houses the painting and sculpture collections. The heart of the picture gallery is dedicated to Lombard and Piedmontese art between the late 19th and early 20th century, where paintings by Guido Boggiani, Arnaldo Ferraguti, Daniele Ranzoni and Mario Tozzi. The sculpture section, on the other hand, boasts an extraordinary plaster cast gallery with no less than 340 plaster casts by the Impressionist Paul Troubetzkoy, flanked by the impressive commemorative sculptures of Giulio Branca and the masterpieces of Arturo Martini, a pillar of Italian plastics between the wars.
