Located in the enchanting medieval village of Cornello dei Tasso - a jewel perched on a rocky outcrop and accessible only on foot - the Museum is the guardian of a thousand-year history. During the Middle Ages, this village was a neuralgic crossroads of trade thanks to the Via Mercatorum, which connected Bergamo to Valtellina, making Cornello a flourishing commercial centre.

This is where the roots of the Tasso family, world-famous for both the literary genius of Torquato Tasso, both for the extraordinary business acumen of its exponents who, since the 16th century, managed the imperial post of the Habsburgs. The exhibition traces the evolution of communication, from the earliest Tasso enterprises until the 1990s, guarding rare treasures such as the famous Penny Black, the world's first postage stamp.

As well as promoting scientific research at European level, the Museum enhances the heritage spread throughout the municipality of Camerata Cornello, protecting the historical places and buildings that still bear the tangible imprint of the prestigious dynasty.

The museum is also a UNICEF Baby Pit Stop: a safe, welcoming and well-equipped space where you can breastfeed and look after your children in complete peace of mind whilst you are here.
