Opened in 2001, the Capuchin Museum in Milan from the outset presented itself as a museum of art and history. The heritage it exhibits comes largely from the convents and churches of the Capuchin friars in Lombardy, which for various reasons (conservation, security, study and valorisation) it was decided to musealise.
Through numerous works, the Museum offers various art history paths and at the same time presents the thought and activity of the Capuchins, the cultural and religious sphere in which they worked, in close connection with paths of tradition and history of Milan.
It is characterised, therefore, by a varied collection: from the more traditional paths of Christian iconography, to the specific study of Manzoni, to the digressions on beauty proposed by the donations of the late 19th and 20th century Italy that present authors of the calibre of Boccioni, Sironi, De Pisis, Morbelli, etc.
Admission to the museum is free of charge with the possibility of a voluntary donation. Reservations are not necessary (only in the case of groups and to participate in initiatives where specified).
