Archaeological Museum
Museo Civico di Arte Preistorica

The tour is divided into four rooms; the first is dedicated to engravings found in some foreign countries, the second to engravings found in Italy, the third and fourth to the Pinerolo area.
The first section presents casts of engravings from Monte Bego (Valle delle Meraviglie and Val Fontanalba), in the French Maritime Alps, from Tanum (in northern Bohuslän), in Sweden, and from Galicia, in Spain. The second section exhibits casts of engravings from the Romito cave in Papasidero, Calabria (the only cast of a Paleolithic engraving in the Museum), from Val Camonica, a valley in Lombardy rich in rock engravings, and from Monte Bracco, in the province of Cuneo. The third section exhibits casts of engravings from Val Pellice and Val Germanasca; the last section displays those from Val Chisone.
In this exhibition, the visitor is offered a twofold approach to the images: the objective one, which refers back to the original sites where the casts were taken, and the subjective one, which leaves everyone free to interpret these ancient figures, still capable of arousing wonder and emotion today.
