Museo Civico G. Bellini

The museum offers a varied collection ranging from archaeology to ethno-anthropology, from history to art, starting from the original collection of Goffredo Bellini, an eclectic collector of the early 20th century.

The Museum was founded in the early 1920s by Goffredo Bellini, a collector, researcher and local history enthusiast, who between the end of the 19th century and the first decades of the century gathered together archaeological finds and war relics, graphic and pictorial works and ancient books, documents and autographs and sacred art objects, creating over time a veritable collection, divided into numerous sections ranging from archaeology to art, from military history to natural sciences.
The current layout, in the original location of the Monte dei Pegni (pawnshop) building, includes an archaeological section on the ground floor, consisting of several rooms, and a final room with architectural and stone materials from different historical periods, the point of contact with the layout on the first floor. Proceeding to the upper floor, there is a section dedicated to the materials of folk tradition, from ancient trades related to the domestic hearth to the various craft activities. The itinerary then continues with a historical section divided into two rooms: the first illustrating the reality of Asolo from the Veneto period to the Unification, the second collecting weapons, documents and war remnants from the Great War. The itinerary continues with a room dedicated to temporary exhibitions, and then concludes with a room of a topographical nature, intended as a point of synthesis of the itinerary in which heterogeneous materials are placed that have become symbols of the city over time. On the exit path, a work donated by artist Stefano Arienti is on display that links to the Cathedral, and a multimedia station allows visitors to consult the collection's rich collection of books and documents. A wing of the building is dedicated to the rich collection of sacred and liturgical objects of the "G. B. Tosio" Parish Museum, from the wooden statues to the picture gallery of saints, from objects to sacred vestments.
