MUSEI CIVICI DI MONZA – CASA DEGLI UMILIATI

I City Museums of Monza combine the historical collections of the Civic Art Gallery and the Arengario Historical Museum. Founded in 1935, have grown up around the prestigious core of the Galbesi Segrè bequest, donated to the municipality in 1923.

Over the years, the heritage has been progressively enriched through purchases, donations and thanks to the legacy of the major events that marked the Novecento monzese: from historical Biennials to theISIAuntil City of Monza Painting Prize and the more recent Biennial Youth.

The exhibition is characterised by a wealth of paintings and sculptures by local masters active between the second half of the 19th century and the first decades of the 20th century. Also of great importance are the conspicuous collection of 20th century drawings and graphics - arrived thanks to the generosity of the artists and their heirs - and the historical Prints Cabinet ancient and modern.

Today the Museums are housed in the current location of via Theodolinda, born from the restoration of a former medieval convent of the Umiliati. A selection of iconic works from the city's history is displayed here, alongside a space for temporary exhibitions designed to explore themes and authors related to civic collections.
