Miniere di Cogne

The magnetite mines of Cogne (among the highest in Europe), with a succession of over 100 km of tunnels and original installations all to be discovered, take visitors on the trail of generations of miners and offer a breathtaking panorama from Mont Blanc to Gran Paradiso. Thanks to the opening to the public, you can enjoy a unique experience inside the mountain: you travel 1.5 km in a tunnel, on board a vintage train, and find yourself in the heart of the mine.

The project is ambitious: to take visitors to the place where miners worked until 1979 to extract magnetite, the authenticity of this place is certainly one of its strengths.

The atmosphere is magical: the old buildings, the view, the tools, the rooms as the miners left them, and the clanking of the train that will take visitors along the carriage tunnel, make the visit an experience that takes you back in time. After a short journey, you arrive at the base of the main descent, continue to the level of the inner crushers, visit rooms with original machinery and continue along a section of tunnel to the base of a shaft.
