includedThe museum houses the finds from a Roman necropolis, dated between the 1st and 4th centuries AD., found during excavations for the construction of the Turin-Milan high-speed railway line between 2001 and 2003. It is a important contribution to the knowledge of the history of the area, emerged through the application of the new methodologies of preventive archaeology.
In collaboration with the Soprintendenza Archeologia, Belle Arti e Paesaggio for the Provinces of Biella, Novara, Verbano-Cusio-Ossola and with theUniversity of Pavia, finds have been the subject of restoration work, allowing today the realisation of a’exhibition area which re-establishes a direct relationship between the territory and the museum reality. The exhibition also hosts materials from the southern part of the province of Vercelliexhibits include artefacts from Baloccoof the significant Crescentino necropolis and of Motta de’ Conti.
The museum route is also enriched by explanatory panels which, through thematic links designed for the visitor, they structure an itinerary that develops along the main corridor and in the four exhibition halls.
