MAUTO – MUSEO NAZIONALE DELL’AUTOMOBILE

An excellence of the City of Turin, the MAUTO - Museo Nazionale dell'Automobile houses an impressive collection, one of the most important of its kind: more than 200 cars from all over the world, contextualised by a layout that makes the visiting experience involving and immersive. Opened to the public in the autumn of 1960 in the premises designed by architect Amedeo Albertini, the MAUTO was completely renovated and enlarged on the occasion of the 150th Anniversary of the Unification of Italy to a design by architect Cino Zucchi and set designer Francois Confino: the history of the automobile, its transformation from means of transport to cult object, from its origins to the contemporary evolution of creative thinking, is told in the itinerary. In addition to a rich calendar of events and temporary exhibitions, the Documentation Centre and the Restoration Centre are the jewel in the crown of the facility, the result of the constant commitment to research and the recovery of the history of the sector.
