The MAO - Museo d'Arte Orientale di Torino is today one of the city's most significant cultural centres, guardian of a unique heritage spanning centuries and continents. Its collections recount the extraordinary artistic and spiritual richness of the cultures of Asia, from the Middle East to Japan, offering visitors a journey through civilisations, styles and traditions that have profoundly influenced the history of humanity.

The MAO - Museum of Oriental Art aims to offer the broadest possible representation of the artistic production of Asian countries, by accepting the main cultural and figurative traditions of the continent.

Le museum collections include almost 2300 works, covering a vast time span, from the Neolithic up to the early 20th century. In addition to these 1400 archaeological finds from pre-Islamic times, from the excavations of Seleucia and Coche in Iraq, valuable evidence of ancient Mesopotamian civilisations.

  • South and South-East Asia, with works from Indian subcontinent and theIndochina;
  • China, cradle of a millennial and multiform artistic civilisation;
  • Himalayan Region, crossroads of cultures Indian and Chinese;
