REGGIA DI VENARIA REALE
includedThe Reggia was officially opened to the public for the first time on 12 October 2007after 8 years of restoration followed by 2 centuries of neglect and decay. The complex, masterpiece of architecture and landscape, is ideally placed at the centre of the Royal Savoy Residences of Piedmont and was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997.
The monumental building, of 80,000 square metres, was conceived by the greatest Baroque architectsthe enchanting scenery of the Diana's Hall designed by Amedeo di Castellamonte, the solemnity of the Grand Gallery and the Chapel of St Hubert with the immense complex of Juvarra Stables, are 18th-century works by Filippo Juvarra.
View of the Reggia from above with its Gardens draws around itself a space of 950,000 square metres of undivided architecture and parks and forms the pivot from which the large complexes of the Juvarra Stables and the Halls of Artsthe La Venaria Reale Conservation and Restoration Centre (housed in the former Alfieri Stables), the Old Townthe Mandria Castle immersed in Park of the same name.
I Gardens have set an example that has no equal in Italy, presenting a model that provides a close union of ancient and modern.
