I Tesori della Ca’ Granda

Treasures of the Ca' Granda is a museum collection which preserves part of the extraordinary collections of the ancient Ospedale Maggiore, today Milan Polyclinic, born from commissioned by the Authority as a sign of gratitude towards benefactors, as well as from bequests and donations.

This exhibition space now permanently displays a selection of pictorial masterpieces never before accessible to the public. In addition to their undisputed artistic value, the portraits of benefactors tell stories of men and women from different eras and social backgrounds, united by bond of affection and gratitude towards the hospital. A tradition still alive, which continues with new works commissioned to celebrate new acts of generosity.

Alongside the paintings, of particular interest is the collection of medical instruments, only partially displayed due to its exceptional size: over 2,000 pieces and growing steadily. A rare collection, established within a hospital in ancient foundation, which testifies to the pioneering role of the Ospedale Maggiore in the history of medicine and scientific research, from its origins to the’international healthcare excellence today's.
