GAMeC – GALLERIA D’ARTE MODERNA E CONTEMPORANEA DI BERGAMO
includedThe Bergamo Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art was inaugurated in 1991. The museum is housed in the former Monastero delle Dimesse e delle Servite, the restoration of which was carried out in the late 1980s and early 1990s by Studio Gregotti Associati.
Over the years, its diversified programming has made it a multifaceted space capable of engaging different audiences with targeted activities. With its 1500 square metres of exhibition space, GAMeC is a place that welcomes modern and contemporary art in all its forms.
Temporary solo and group exhibitions of international artists and a rich calendar of collateral activities designed for different audiences are the strong point of the Gallery's cultural policy, which sees itself as a dynamic place for confrontation, deepening and cultural integration, in continuous evolution.
By receiving donations and promoting acquisitions, GAMeC develops and promotes the modern and contemporary art collection of the city of Bergamo, which includes works by Italian and international 20th century artists as well as works by contemporary artists. GAMeC is also a promoter and founder of AMACI - Associazione dei Musei d'Arte Contemporanea Italiani (Association of Italian Contemporary Art Museums) and actively collaborates with some of the most important museums and contemporary art centres in the world.
