GALLERIE D’ITALIA – TORINO

Turin (TO)
AM Tessera Piemonteincluded
The Gallerie d'Italia - Turin host the Intesa Sanpaolo Publifoto Archive, one of the most important assets of Italian photojournalism: around 7 million shots taken between the 1930s and 1990s by a historic agency in the sector. Alongside the archive, the Galleries display a selection of works from the Intesa Sanpaolo Group's collections, offering an itinerary that interweaves photography, art and contemporary history.

Le Gallerie d'Italia - Turin are configured as a permanent workshop, in which photography and visual arts investigate the complexity of the present through multidisciplinary looks. The museum always offers different experiences, with tours accompanied by cutting-edge immersive technologies and installations, conceived as tools in the service of storytelling.

The entrance is from piazza San Carlo 156, through a wide staircase leading to the underground exhibition spaces. At floor -1 classrooms overlooking the Hall of 300, dedicated to temporary exhibitions. At floor -2 is located the ticket office, conceived as a central reception and meeting place: a hub from which the public can choose from multiple visit routes according to their interests. At floor -3 you will find the’Intesa Sanpaolo Publifoto Archive and the Multimedia Room, which houses a large immersive installation capable, thanks to advanced projection systems, of offering a 360-degree experience of the works on display.

The route continues at ground floor, in the open cloister around which are the bookshop, café and restaurant, and continues at the main floor, where the permanent collection is on display: works from the 14th to the 18th century from the bank's collections, in dialogue with the decorative features of the rooms, together with the important 17th-century pictorial cycle of the Oratory of the Compagnia di San Paolo, here restored to the city's use.
