Art Museum
GALLERIA DELL’ACCADEMIA TADINI
includedL'Tadini Academy of Fine Arts was founded in 1829 in Lovere by Count Luigi Tadini, with the aim of making his art collection, assembled between the late 18th and early 19th centuries, available to the public. The museum is housed in an imposing neoclassical building overlooking the Lake Iseo.
The collection includes masterpieces from different periods, with works by Antonio Canova, Jacopo Bellini, Paris Bordon e Giacomo Ceruti.
The tour begins at the chapel in the centre of the garden, built to house the Tadini Stele, one of Canova's last works, created between 1819 and 1821 in memory of the count's son, who died prematurely in 1799.
The tour continues on the main floor, where you will find the Arms Gallery, the Antiquities Room with its archaeological collection, rooms dedicated to Eastern and Western porcelain – from Paris to Sèvres – the library and a charming panoramic balcony overlooking the lake.
The heart of the museum is the large Concert Hall, which has hosted a prestigious international music season since 1927. Next are the painting galleries, while the second floor houses the Museum of the Nineteenth Century, with works by Francis Hayez and areas dedicated to Giorgio Oprandi. The exhibition concludes with a selection of modern and contemporary art, documenting Italian and European artistic culture from the post-war period to the present day.
The Tadini Academy also organises exhibitions and educational activities for adults and children, and is actively involved in promoting the historical, artistic and cultural heritage of the area.
