Art Museum
GALLERIA DELL’ACCADEMIA TADINI

The Tadini Academy of Fine Arts was established in 1829 in Lovere by Count Luigi Tadini to exhibit his art collection, formed in the late 18th and early 19th century, to the public in the imposing neoclassical palace reflected in Lake Iseo.
The museum houses masterpieces from different historical periods, including names such as Antonio Canova, Jacopo Bellini, Paris Bordon and il Pitocchetto.
The tour begins at the chapel in the centre of the garden, built to house the Tadini Stele, one of the last works by Antonio Canova, sculpted between 1819 and 1821 to honour the memory of the count's son who died prematurely in 1799.
The art collection is displayed on the main floor of the building and includes the Weapons Gallery, the Cabinet of Antiquities with its archaeological collection, the rooms devoted to the precious collection of oriental and western porcelain from Paris to Sèvres, the library and a scenic balcony with a view of the lake landscape.
In the centre of the museum, the large concert hall has hosted a prestigious musical season with performers from all over Europe since 1927. This is followed by the rooms dedicated to the exhibition of paintings.
The second floor houses the Museo dell'Ottocento, with three important paintings by Francesco Hayez and two rooms dedicated to the painter Giorgio Oprandi, while a selected collection of modern and contemporary art concludes the visit, including a documentation of Italian and European artistic culture from the post-World War II period until very recent years.
The Academy organises exhibitions and activities to involve adults and children, and is committed to enhancing the historical, artistic and cultural heritage in the region
