La Foundation dedicated to Mario Merz was established as a centre for contemporary art, with the aim of hosting exhibitions, events and educational activities, while at the same time promoting research and study in the field of art.
Chaired by Beatrice Merz, the institution alternates exhibitions dedicated to Mario and Marisa Merz - understood as moments of study and reflection - to important site-specific projects of Italian and international artists, invited to engage with the space and its contents. Particular attention is also paid to the new generations, through an ongoing programme of exhibition initiatives.
The Education Department develops activities aimed at different audiences, with the intention of fostering knowledge of contemporary art: guided tours and workshops for schools, teacher training courses and a free reception service in the hall.
La library, specialising in the history and criticism of modern and contemporary art, is joined by the’Merz Archive, which preserves and enhances the documentation of the artist's work.
The Mario Merz Prize Finally, it aims to identify and support leading figures in the fields of’art and the contemporary musical composition, with input from a large international network of experts.
