Fondazione Antonio e Carmela Calderara
includedLa Antonio Calderara Collection was born from exchanges and acquisitions that the Maestro entertained with his contemporary artists, linked to him by relationships of esteem, friendship or from search affinity. Over time, Calderara built what he simply and modestly called The story of Antonio Calderara and a selection of his contemporary artist friends: 327 works including paintings and sculpturesof which 56 in his own hand e 271 European, American, Japanese and Chinese artists.
Artist independent of groups and movements, Calderara is now at the height of maturity within a line that includes masters of the origins of abstract art such as Mikhail Larionov, Friedrich Vordemberge-Gildewart and Sonia Delaunay, contemporary such as Lucio Fontana and Victor Vasarely, e young protagonists such as Piero Manzoni and Yves Klein.
Aware of the value of his collection, Calderara decided to open one's home-studio to the public, housed in a 17th-century building in Vacciago di Ameno, on the eastern shores of the Lake Orta, so that even the future generations could approach the the mystery of art and its function.
