Ecomuseum
Ecomuseo Terra del Castelmagno
Non in abbonamentoThe La Cevitou association, the managing body of the ecomuseum, presented its project to the Piedmont Region in 2001, which was then established in March 2007. The proposed ecomuseum includes the municipalities of Monterosso Grana, Pradleves and Castelmagno, which are united by their homogeneous territory, Occitan language and culture and constitute the production and maturing area of the famous and renowned cheese. The land and Castelmagno are the two elements that create the specificity of this territory. Land as soil, as surface, but also as a place characterised by Occitan culture, lifestyles and habits. And Castelmagno cheese, unique, the absolute protagonist of the history and economy of the upper and middle Grana valley (CN). Regaining possession of a territory, creating bonds, allowing locals and visitors to return to grasp the meaning and beauty of hard work and simple joy in every moment of mountain life: these are the objectives of the Ecomuseum. This is why the project proposes activities and initiatives not only related to the world of Castelmagno but to all those components that characterise the economy of the valley; hence the recovery of the ancient connection routes, the protection, dissemination and valorisation of typical local products. The sites that are part of the eco-museum are: the Museo Terra del Castelmagno and the Babaciu in the Paese senza Tempo in San Pietro di Monterosso, the small museum Una casa per Narbona in Campomolino, the Curnis route, the cycle-educational routes for families and schools Ape, Pera, Sete e Territorio, the mill-sawmill and the cheese factory, the IconAlpe library and documentation centre in San Pietro Monterosso, L'Oste de Senpìe in San Pietro Monterosso.
