Ecomuseum
Ecomuseo delle terre al confine
Non in abbonamentoThe Ecomuseum le Terre al Confine, located in the building of the former post workhouse, was founded in 2004 and is dedicated to documenting and enhancing the millennial history of the Mont Cenisio Pass and the Cenischia Valley. The Mont Cenis Pass was for centuries the main 'gateway' to the Western Alps through which travellers passed. The crossing, which was not without dangers due to the environment and the uneasy route, was organised by the local guides who lived in the area, the 'Marrons'. Their task was to beat the tracks in case of snow and transport goods, people and their luggage to their destination. Through the guided tours that the Ecomuseum offers in the village, it is possible to take a journey of discovery of the village and its most important places, to relive the ancient traditions, get to know the local people, their culture and also the naturalistic aspects that characterise the area. Thanks to the planning of appointments, events and exhibitions, the Eco-museum works to stimulate research, recovery and conservation of the local memory, as well as the development of more contemporary themes on the theme of the mountains.
