The Mink Stone and Lime Ecomuseum was created with the aim of enhancing the former industrial area of the limestone quarries in the south-west of the village and highlighting aspects relating to the local identity and the long tradition of stone processing. The quarries preserve a memory of recent events concerning the industrial production of lime, but also of events far back in time related to the use of stone as a building and sculpture material, which can be documented from the Roman age. The uniqueness of the geological formation, made up of layers of biocalcarenite of great palaeontological interest, the history of the long and partly mysterious stay of a community of Tuscan stonemasons, and the particular situation created by the Canepa and Zanoletti companies in the twenty years between 1950 and 1970, make Visone an area with multiple naturalistic, ethnographic and material culture specificities.
