Ecomuseo dei Certosini nella Valle Pesio
Non in abbonamentoThe Ecomuseum retraces the most important stages of the Carthusian monks' presence in the Pesio Valley through an ethnographic and religious journey that documents the history of the settlements, the attention to the environment and the relationship between the monks and the local farming world. The monks have been present in the area since 1173, when the upper part of the valley was ceded to Prior Uldrico of the Carthusian Order: the monks articulated the agricultural organisation of the Pesio Valley through the grange, small farms presided over by a Converso called 'grangerius' and controlled by the monastery. Spirituality and work culture are revived today in the numerous itineraries organised in the area, which lead to the discovery of churches, chapels, votive pillars, frescoes and in particular the Carthusian "grange". These itineraries are flanked by others aimed at discovering the various production activities developed over time, witnessed by the typical products and cultivations of medicinal herbs, highlighting how the relationship between man and nature was at the basis of the population's daily life.
