COMPLESSO MUSEALE E CENTRO STUDI CAV. G.AVENA
includedThe Cav. G. Avena Museum Complex and Study Centre is housed in the old Town Hall of Chiusa di Pesio and contains a precious selection of artefacts, supported by multimedia stations on the glass and crystal, ceramics, bronze artefacts and the historical documentation of resistance sections. The museum complex is divided into four sections: the collection of the Regia Fabbrica de' vetri e cristalli della Chiusa: highly valuable artefacts, tools for working glass, ancient crystal and glass objects produced under the watchful eye of Cav. G. Avena; the ceramics collection: a collection of numerous ceramic artefacts from donations and private collections, which testify to their historical and artistic importance. The third section displays the bronzes from Monte Cavanero: the exhibition documents the discovery of the repository of bronzes, ambers and glass, placed on the mountain at the beginning of the 8th century B.C. by a craftsman skilled in metalworking. Finally, the historical documentation on the Resistance is on display: historical memory of the territory during the years of the war and the struggle for liberation. The paths of memory is the title of the exhibition on the partisan resistance: through exhibition and multimedia paths, visitors can learn more about particular aspects of history during the years of World War II. The palace is characterised by the large square Civic Tower, which rises above the surrounding buildings, and the beautiful interior rooms, many of which preserve frescoed barrel ceilings. The museum serves as a dynamic hub of cultural initiatives. Audio guides in Italian, English and French are available to the public. Bookshop inside with handicrafts and typical local products. Temporary exhibitions are held periodically. Educational workshops are organised for children and adults. Guided tours by appointment.
