A fascinating 18th century former spinning mill directly overlooking the lake. Since 1953, this historic building has housed the world's first museum dedicated to the industrial archaeology of silk. It houses an extraordinary collection of original tools and machinery, perfectly preserved and still visible in operation today.

Housed in a charming 18th-century spinning mill by the lake in Garlate and surrounded by a mulberry gardenthe Abegg Silk Museum chronicles the evolution of silk production, from the worm to the finished fabric.

Founded in 1953 by Swiss industrialists Abegg and donated to the Municipality of Garlate in 1976, the museum houses a rich collection of original historical machinery. The exhibition tour illustrates the main production steps step by step: silkworm breeding, cocoon reeling, twisting e weaving.

The journey ends with a glimpse of tomorrow: an area dedicated to the future of silk, discover its latest applications in the field biomedicalof the cosmetics and the high-tech spinning. The offer is completed by interactive workshops e educational paths guided by expert trainers.
