Cittadellarte – Fondazione Pistoletto

The foundation, located in an old factory, is a centre dedicated to contemporary art that organises exhibitions, conferences, shows, performances, film festivals and educational workshops. Cittadellarte boasts the largest permanent collection of works by Michelangelo Pistoletto, an itinerary that marks the salient points in the Foundation's history, from its birth to its contemporary evolution, linking up with the Maestro's artistic history. The exhibition can only be visited with a guide, who welcomes visitors and accompanies them to discover and understand the works and spaces. The visit unfolds in various physical and temporal locations of Cittadellarte, connecting Pistoletto's artistic production since the 1960s with the works of Arte Povera, the Venus of rags and the current art and social transformation projects linked to the Third Paradise. Two rooms are dedicated to the mirror paintings that form the foundation of Pistoletto's work, both in his subsequent production and artistic activity, and in the theoretical reflection in which he constantly returns to them in order to deepen their meaning and develop their implications.
