Castle
Castello di Issogne
included
includedThe castle was rebuilt by Ibleto di Challant at the end of the 14th century, incorporating older pre-existences; a century later, Prior Giorgio di Challant transformed it into a sumptuous residential palace, where the splendid sunset of late Gothic culture merges with the dawn of the Renaissance.
The painstaking restoration work carried out at the end of the 19th century by the Turinese painter Vittorio Avondo has handed down the dwelling to us in all the richness of its original pictorial decoration and with the charm of its furnishings, recomposed - where the originals are absent - with examples from the same period or copies strictly in style.
Reservation recommended especially on weekends. Reservations can be made at this link (by paying the pre-sale) or on site at one of the tourist offices that are Museum Pass sales points (Aosta, Pont Saint-Martin and Courmayeur). The season ticket holder must always pass by the ticket office before the visit.
Accessibility: The castle has architectural barriers, so a visit for the physically disabled is only possible in part on the ground floor. There are disabled toilets in the municipal car park opposite the castle.
